Success Stories: Winston

Winston3

This handsome little guy was lucky enough to be born a few short days after his mother was rescued off a Houston street by a very kind woman who came to TBAR asking for help. Winston’s mother, Gracie, was much too young to give birth, but here we were with 4 healthy kittens.

Gracie and kitties1

Winston was the last of the kittens who found their home. He had to be fostered for a little longer for extra medical attention. Winston had to receive treatment for ringworm before he could be adopted out and spent some time being boarded at a Houston vet office where one of his foster parents worked. He quickly became a favorite of those who worked in the vet office because he was so loving and an awesome little guy (handsome too!). Soon enough it was Winston’s turn to find his forever home.

Winston1

Winston went to his new forever family on February 9, 2014 and – as you can tell – he found himself right at home. We are happy to see him finally find a loving home and want to thank his foster, Linda, for her patience and determination for finding these babies homes.

Success Stories: Smokey

Nearly everyday, T-Bar receives emails from the caring people who have found, fed and sheltered an animal that appears to have been dumped and left to fend for themselves, but who are unable to keep the animal. Sometimes we are able to take in one or two of these animals when there is an open space in a foster home, but when T-Bar foster homes are full we reluctantly have to tell these compassionate people that we have nowhere to place the animal and we are only able to offer networking assistance through our RAIN (Rescue Animals In Need) Facebook page.

Animals who are born and grow up feral are better able to care for themselves than a domesticated animal whose had their food, water and shelter provided for them their whole lives. For Smokey, he was one of the lucky ones spotted on a porch bench at a Mexican restaurant in Somerville, Texas by one of T-Bar’s wonderful foster parents. When she walked up to him, he physically reached out to her as if he were asking, “Can you please help me?” After discovering that he was dumped, there was no possibility that she could leave him there on his own.

At that point, Smokey was only 6 months old and needed lots of food and TLC. At first, he was very anxious about his new surroundings and the woman who was caring for him. Sometimes he would be so scared he thought he had to defend himself and hide. But after a few weeks of being slowly socialized and shown love, he learned to trust this kind stranger.

For months, he waited and waited for his forever family to find him. Thanks to a Pet of the Week listing in the Brenham Banner Press, Smokey’s forever family had finally found him. When it was time for his Meet-n-Greet, Smokey did his best to charm them and show them that he was a very special boy. His new mom, Emilee, fell in love with him that day. She knew he was the right fit for her and began preparing her home for his arrival. It did not take long for Emilee and Smokey to bond. He is so happy to finally have his own girl to love him and spend the rest of his life with.

Thank you, Emilee and Jan, for opening your hearts and home to our sweet Smokey.

Success Stories: Jewel

Jewel, aka Ebony, was born on September 12, 2013, along with her siblings: Winston, Buffy, and Piper. Jewel’s mother, Gracie, gave birth to the litter of 4 shortly after being rescued off the streets by a very kind soul. Jewel spent a few months growing and learning how to be a great little kitty with her foster mom, but she found her perfect forever home with her new fur-sibling, Jack.

Thank you to the Molder family for giving Jewel a loving home and spoiling her like she deserves!

Success Stories: Titan and Fire

Success Story Wednesday!

2013-10-16 Titan before and after
Last week we posted a photo of Titan and a link to our success story Flickr page and we were so happy to see Titan’s brother, Fire! Fire’s mom, Tamara, posted a few photos and we just had to share our favorite ones with all of you here!

Both of these beautiful cats went up for adoption when they were estimated to be 5-6 weeks old.  They came from a bad hording situation and were rescued by a neighbor that found the kittens while the adult cats were being removed.  This good neighbor bottle fed the kittens until they were old enough for adoption.

Fire

We love to see our rescued animals in their loving forever homes – it is what keeps all of the dedicated TBAR volunteers going!

Please upload YOUR success stories to our Flickr page

Success Stories: Cats 2013!

Here are the TBAR Cats that have found their forever home in 2013!

Titan

2013-10-16 Titan

Titan in his new home!  See what a beautiful cat he has grown into!

pet_3159_1

Here’s Titan! When he went up for adoption he was estimated to be 5-6 weeks old; we were not sure of his age because he came from a hoarding situation where the adult cats were being trapped & removed; so the neighbor started finding screaming kittens everywhere! He was about 2 weeks old when he was found (07/14/2013) and started on the bottle  Titan is a lover that loves to be held and rubbed. He’s a purr machine! Congrats on your new forever home, Titan!

Gawain

pet_1627_3 pet_1627_2 pet_1627_3 pet_1627_1

Gawain had a tough life before coming to TBAR. He was found eating out of a dumpster in Houston by a little girl with a big heart. Through networking, he was picked up from Houston and brought to TBAR. Once checked out by a vet, we discovered Gawain had been attacked by some larger animal, probably a dog. He had a two inch cut over his front shoulder and a bite on his neck. It took 2-3 weeks for his injuries to heal and now he is all healed up and working on his social skills. He is shy at first but once he feels safe, he is a love bug! But you won’t hear much noise from him other than his loud purr box. He is more of a squeaker than a meower, in fact, he can’t really meow. But the love he gives is incomparable. Please consider having this amazing little boy as a part of your family!

Fire

pet_3161_1

This picture is of Fire at 6 weeks old, when he was ready for his new home.  He came into TBAR from a hoarding situation where the adult cats were being trapped and removed. He was about 2 weeks old when found (07/17/2013) and started on the bottle.  Fire is a spunky playful kitten that loves to play on his scratching post!  Congrats on your forever home, little wild Fire!

Ned

pet_412_1

Ned was found by some neighborhood kids under their house in September 2012.  He was tiny, and his arrival was a mystery, since there was no sign of a mother or liter mates nearby.  Ned was taken in by TBAR and received his vaccinations and neutering.  He has a very thick and lovely coat, and at 5 months old he was a big kitten, but very healthy and affectionate with a strong character personality.  Since he spent so much time with his foster parent’s dogs, he was known to act a bit like a dog, himself.  He would come when he was called, and yeowl at the door when the dogs ran to it barking.

Odette

pet_2815_1

Odette is a gorgeous little red tabby who was found abandoned in a park.  She was clearly dumped as she had no behavior indicative of a feral kitten.  Odette was taken in and given all of her shots.  She gets along great with dogs and cats.  We were so happy when she found her forever home!

Caramel

pet_2654_1

Caramel is an American short hair cat, who was spayed and up to date with routine shots.  She has found her forever home.

Jack Black – 11 month old black cat as of June 2010
ADOPTED – Thank You!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Vaccinated and spayed/neutered. Black Jack is a short-haired, very shiny and sleek, black cat. He’s not all black because he has 10 white hairs on his chest and a couple on his back – go figure! He has beautiful yellow eyes and a great purr. He’s a little shy at first, but given time to warm up to you, he’s a cuddler!  He gets along great with big dogs and with other cats. No risk involved – you win with Black Jack!

SYBIL – April 2010 – pictured at 18 weeks
ADOPTED – Thank You!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABeautiful Sybil loves to romp and play. When her playtime is over, nothing makes her happier than crawling up on your chest and enthusiastically purring while you pet her until she drifts off to sleep; content just to be with you. Sybil also enjoys playing with her siblings and with fluffy mouse toys and ping pong balls. She is a very sweet kitten and would be a joyful addition to your family. Sybil is an exquisite deep gray & white short-hair kitten with the most appealing markings! At 19 weeks of age she is spayed and ready for her new home with a special person who will love and care for her always. For more about Sybil contact TBAR at 936-878-2349

SCOTTY  pictured at 11 weeks
ADOPTED – Thank you!

Scotty
Scotty looks a lot like Sybil, but has a gray spot on his chin and an all gray tail. Scotty has been neutered. He is the first one to greet you when you walk in the room and jumps into your lap and purrs. He’s more interested in loving now then playing. He’s a little bigger than his two sisters, but still adorable!

 PRECIOUS pictured at 8 weeks
ADOPTED – Thank you!

Precious

Precious has wonderful ‘eye-liner’ markings on her race and a white-tipped tabby colored tail. She and Sybil are the same size and love to play together. Precious has a wonderful purr and will eventually fall asleep on you.

7 Week old Black Kittens – ADOPTED – Thank You!

KathrynskittensIt’s true you can’t buy love – but you can certainly adopt it. These precious orphaned kittens (four of six total) are in desperate need of homes. Their lives were saved thanks to loving bottle-feeding by a True Blue Animal Rescue (TBAR) staff member, and they are now on wet food and ready for their forever families. A kitten in your home is a joy to behold, and having two kittens who can play with each other is more fun than you can imagine – so TBAR is offering your choice of any one or two kittens for a single adoption fee. They are about 7 weeks old and are sweet, affectionate, and well-socialized. They come with all their shots and a certificate for free neuter or spay. Save a life and adopt instead of buying a pet. For more information call 936-878-2349.

Cats Adopted in 2009

Demi – 9 month calico girl
ADOPTED – Thank You!

DemiTo outsiders, Demi’s life in foster care probably seems like an idyllic fairy tale. But Demi feels more like Cinderella. Even though she lives in a nice home/castle and her basic needs are cared for, Demi has evil step-sisters and brothers (cats) that are mean to her. They don’t accept her, so poor Demi has to stay in her room except for when the step-siblings leave the house for a while. Demi longs for her own home where she can live freely to love and be loved. She promises  to follow you everywhere, take naps in your lap, sleep on your bed, and purr really loud to let you know she’s happy. Demi knows she’s special because she was born with a perfect orange heart on her right shoulder. She is a petite 9-month-old calico; white with big patches of orange & black on her head, tail and left side. Already spayed and vaccinated, Demi is waiting for her fairy tale ending – a forever home. For more about Demi, contact TBAR at 936- 878-2349

Cole –  ADOPTED – Thank You!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Max @ 6 months – ADOPTED – Thank you!

MaxMax is the smallest of the 3 boys;  and likes to be held like a baby if you scratch him on his chest. His coloring is a cross between Seal and Lilac Point. He purrs very loudly when given love.  All of them impress the vets and their helpers with their personalities.

Cats Adopted in 2007

CASSIDY – ADOPTED – Thank You!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Cassidy  loves to have you rub his belly and shows his pleasure by kneading gently on your arms. He knows not to use his claws with people already too. A big purr from this little body, Cassidy is a snuggler. He’s a kitten, so he’s ready to play with his siblings or you! He’s already had his first kitten shots including rabies and feline leukemia; and he’s neutered.  6/04/07 – 4 months

AUDREY – ADOPTED – Thank You!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Named after the actress, Audrey Hepburn, this demure, little girl will fool you at first, acting shy and scared. But give her a moment to get used to something new and then she’s running around, acting playful!  She’s quite capable of holding her own when playing with the boys; and has even been known to be the instigator! She may be the demure one, but she has the loudest meow. Her calico colors are beautifully muted gray and tan/orange, with blue/gray eyes. For being the smallest, she has the loudest purr! She’s already had her  first kitten shots including rabies and feline leukemia; and she’s spayed.

BENZ – ADOPTED – Thank You!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As in Mercedes Benz, cause this little boy is a class act. He wants first and foremost to sit on your shoulder and purr; then he’ll run and play with his siblings. Of the three kittens, he’s the most brave…  His looks are a lot like a Russian Blue cat.

Patches – ADOPTED – Thank You! Patches is one lucky girl! Surviving on her own for 7 months, she somehow managed to avoid getting hit by a car or attacked by dogs, and even found a kind soul to give her some food. Then along came a True Blue Animal Rescue member who trapped her to bring her to safety. This loving, playful, black and orange calico cat is now 8 months old, healthy, spayed, vaccinated and ready for a forever home. Patches has discovered that people are wonderful! She loves exploring her new world of indoor life; and lives for being petted. She’ll rub against your legs, and loves to sit in your lap and be held. She has quite the purr too! Her striking markings, like the orange stripe down her nose, just add to her character. So far, there’s nothing she doesn’t like – she’s even fine with other cats & dogs. See the world for the first time again, as you watch Patches discover and learn about your world. As long as she has you to run to for safety, she’s curious and willing to explore.

Angel – Adult Persian Mix

This little girl came to us weighing in at a mere 4 pounds; 1/2 of what a healthy cat should weigh! She’s spending her time eating, sleeping, playing and getting healthy. In one short week, she already has alot more energy and her hair is growing back. We call her Angel, because she must have had Divine help to find her way to a caring soul and then TBAR –

Update: 8/4/2006 – Angel was ADOPTED! Thank you!
