Name:  Oreo T-Bar #:  H123
Age:  3 yrs Sex:  filly Height:  Weight:
Color: Black and White
Breed:  Paint
Registered Association: Reg #:
Abilities: Halter Broke & Starting to Ride
Adoption Fee: In Review
Description: This is Oreo, a three year old paint filly, that was found wandering the streets with her pasture mates. When nobody claimed her she was turned over to True Blue Animal Rescue (Tbar). She lived in a wonderful foster home with some other young horses and was doing very well.

Since Oreo is a young horse she is curious so when she saw an open gate she ran out without much thought for her safety. It was getting dark and an SUV that was speeding by hit her very hard. She flew into the air and landed on the ground with a thud. Her foster owner was there and after making sure the people in the car were OK he ran to her side. Oreo got up and except for a few scrapes she looked OK too. The vet came and examined her and decided to give her some medicine and let her rest.

Later, after X-raying her we found out that she had some broken bones in her knee and that she’d need surgery to make her comfortable. The only other option is euthanasia because arthritis is already setting in and it is getting harder and harder for Oreo to use her knee. We contacted surgeons at A & M vet hospital and although the surgery would cost $8000. Dr. Watkins was able to get $4000 of that funded through another foundation. Oreo is young and will do well with this surgery. After she heals she can be ridden lightly and will have a good life.

The only problem is that True Blue Animal Rescue does not have the other $4000 to spend on surgery for one horse so we are asking for your help. Please donate any amount of money you can to help us pay for Oreo’s surgery. She’s too young to have her life ended this soon. She survived abuse, neglect and being hit by an SUV. Now she needs your help so she can continue living!

Name:  Image T-Bar #:  H165
Age:  28 yrs Sex:  mare Height:  Weight:
Color: Sorrell
Breed:  Quarterhorse
Registered Association: Reg #:
Abilities: Rideable
Adoption Fee: In Review
Description: Image was donated to T-Bar by a family that had financial troubles; and is extremely emaciated. She is one of the worst cases we have ever dealt with. Image has a strong will to live and fight for her life and has already made it past several hurdles including choke. She has a long way to go; and would appreciate your prayers and donations.

Update July 28 from Image's foster home:  Image had her second 1/2 dose of wormer on Sunday afternoon. She feels better -- but looks terrible -- her old hair is "peeling" off in small chunks...leaving her looking like she's scabby --- but where the old hair is falling off, she has this short, darker hair.

The farrier came yesterday. He didn't trim much, said she didn't have much to trim. She needs to grow out. There is a very bad crack that he said we cannot do much about. Just give it time to grow.

I put Image with two of my mini's and she pinned her ears back and chased them. Yes, chased.  When we fed the other day, she was last to come into the barn because of her location.  She paced the fence and trotted back and forth!

She stands tall with her head up -- and from a distance you can see the former regal gal she once was {and will be again someday}!  .

Update - August 23rd - Look at Image now! She still has more weight to put on to fill in her ribs and backbone; and it will be a long recovery for her cracked and broken hooves, but thanks to her fabulous foster parents, Linda and James, and your support, Image is well on the road to full recovery!

Image still has a long way to go to fully recover; please continue your prayers for her!
Any donations are much appreciated! THANK YOU for your support!

  Name:  Mayflower T-Bar #:  H110
Age:   Sex:  Mare Height: 12-13Hh Weight:
Color: Bay
Breed:  Grade
Abilities: broke and trained; great ground manners,
Adoption Fee: $500
Description: Mayflower was donated to TBar because her owner could not properly care for her. Mayflower registered a 1.5 on the Henneke Scale and had to stay at the veterinarian's office for several days to be strong enough to stand the trailer ride to TBAR.
Update: Mayflower is now back to a healthy weight and ready for adoption. She would make a great child's horse.

Update Jun 2009: Mayflower seems to be having some back issues and will be seen by a chiropractor to resolve them.
