The Pyrenees Puppies story:

Meet our newest rescues. We rescued six week old puppies from a neglectful situation. They were skinny and anemic and full of fleas and worms. They went right to the vet for treatment. The female puppy was adopted immediately and the two boys are in a foster home waiting for someone to adopt them. The pictures are of the boys waiting for adoption.

Success Story: Remy!

Remy (now called Lady) has found her forever home!  Her Dad brought her by to show us how big she is getting!

Remmy 2

Remy’s Story:

Remy is a lovely tempered, 11 week old, mostly Lab pup who is already a real lady where manners and gentleness are concerned.  She was found straying, hungry, weak and all the usual sad things that become of pups people dump.  Lucky for Remy, the gal who saw her along 290, is a True Blue Rescue staff and a wonderful foster home.  She stopped and picked up the pup, taking her back to share apartment digs with rescued foster kittens and cats, which is her foster/rescue focus. Remy’s foster mom also works at a vets, so got her evaluated, all puppy shots, tests and wormer. By now, this is a healthy, well trained pup.  We had her at an adoption event downtown, this weekend, along with 2 litters of younger pups – all of whom were stressed and scared.  Strange people, noises, a parade, etc., but to our amazement, Remy was calm and asking to get in the pen with the 15 upset babies. Though a baby herself, she right away started cuddling the smallest and most nervous pups. She was welcoming and open to the new people who came up and showed the great traits that are typical of many Labs. She will be a 40-50 lb. dog. She is calm, very responsive and showing signs of being a great choice for someone who needs a dog to bond with a special needs family member or other role calling for attentiveness and extra sensitivity on the part of the dog. But there is plenty of puppy too, loving to chase toys and play.  She is housebroken, crate trained walks well on a leash, sits and listens really well.  If you’d like to meet Remy call 936-878-2349 or email, [email protected] to make an appointment – and go to the website, www.t-bar.org to learn about the adoption or foster program guidelines and download an application.  Fill it out and send it back (email or regular mail) and once you are on file as an approved adopter or foster home, you can meet any animal you want and take them home for a sleepover – try out.

Caldwell Country Cares

Caldwell Cares Check Presentation - sized

In the month of April True Blue Animal Rescue was nominated by Sandy Roegner and was subsequently chosen as 1 of 3 April finalists for the Caldwell Country Cares project! TBAR supporters logged onto the website at www.kbtx.com/caldwellcountrycares and submitted their votes until 11:59pm on Tuesday, April 30th.

TBAR was thrilled to be the charity with the most votes and the recipient of a $1,000 grant from Caldwell Country! The presentation took place at Caldwell Country Chevrolet on May 13, 2013. Pictured above are: Jon Hildrebrand (of Caldwell Country Chevrolet), RC Slocum (Texas A & M retired football coach), Matt Smith (of Caldwell Country Chevrolet), Teresa Gaskamp (TBAR officer), and Sandy Roegner (the TBAR member who nominated us for the contest).

Thank you to everyone who voted to support us, and thank you to Caldwell Country for this generous grant! We are so pleased to be able to reach out to more animals with this honor. And a BIG THANK YOU to Sandy for nominating us!

Success Story: Sweet Pea!

Sweet Pea

We are happy to announce that this little dog, Sweet Pea, found her forever home this weekend!  Congrats Sweet Pea!

Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea’s story:

Meet SWEET PEA, she is precious, gorgeous, smart as a whip, super affectionate, cuddly and playful. This pup is 5 months old and currently weighs 18-20 lbs. The vet tells us she’ll probably mature to 25 (maybe 30) pounds. She was taken in by a good neighbor who has fostered her and tells us that she saw the mother of Sweet Pea’s litter, and feels sure Mama dog is 1/2 Chihuahua. The rest of her family tree will have to remain a mystery. Little Sweet Pea is a perfect example of that wonderful breed, the Great American Mutt. In her face and coat, there could even be a few drops of Black Mouth Cur or Shepherd. It’s all good – and she comes with a very sweet heart to boot. Her foster mom has taught her to walk on a leash, crate trained her and given her plenty of experience with a big house hold. She likes kids and has never growled or snapped, even with the littlest, pulling tail and ears and trying to pick her up. She likes to chase the cats, but just for fun and has never been aggressive with them.
Sweet Pea sleeps in her crate at night and is a great inside or outside dog. She has a happy disposition and is real responsive to being taught. Like all of True Blue Animal Rescue’s adoptables , she is spayed, current on shots and healthy.

$350 Grant Toward Staff Development

ASPCA Grant Badge sm

Brenham, Texas — True Blue Animal Rescue (TBAR) announced that they received an award in the amount of #350 from the ASPCA to fund two staff members’ trip to the Equine Professionals Workshop in Dallas, Texas.

“True Blue Animal Rescue is going into its ninth year,” said Melanie DeAeth, TBAR President. “There have been many changes in the world of Animal Rescue since we first started.  Staff development is an important part of running a successful rescue.  Much of what we do and what we know has been from hands-on learning, but there are many resources out there that will give us the information we need to take TBAR up to the next level.  This year is going to be an important year as far as TBAR’s immersion into new strategic planning, marketing, and social media, which will allow us to further help the animals in Brenham, Texas and surrounding areas.”

The scholarship included registration for the Equine Professionals Workshop, fuel, hotel, and meals. Staff members got to attend presentations on various topics that will contribute to the future success of TBAR.  Without this generous grant TBAR staff would not have been able to travel to Dallas to participate in the event.
