Name: Lucky – ADOPTED Breed: Border Collie / Terrier / Mixed
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Description:ADOPTED – Thank you!!Lucky got his name by being a lucky dog for real. This sweet homeless pup was hit by a car (I know, not so lucky – but read on), and the people who chanced to be there, were the kind of people who couldn’t pass by and leave him to his fate. Several strangers stopped and took him to the vet. True Blue Animal Rescue was asked to take him into our rehabilitation/adoption program and sent Lucky’s story out in an email blast to members; who passed it along to their Facebook friends; the Brenham Banner ran his picture and story. And that’s how Lucky’s life and chance for a loving home touched many wonderful people. This group of total strangers jumped in and together, paid this baby’s vet bills. Lucky has been fostered by a wonderful family who gave him love, comfort, and time to recover from broken bones. This brave, funny, smart black and white pup is healed and ready for his forever home. He’s approximately a year old, give or take a month; and weighs 30 lbs. Lucky is a terrier/border collie mix with a great temperament and personality that won’t quit. He is neutered, heart worm negative and has all his shots. He has been fostered in a family with other dogs, cats, livestock and kids – He loves them all and gets along beautifully. Oh, of course, Lucky is house trained. If you would like to meet Lucky, call TBAR at 936-878-2349 or email us – [email protected]. You can see more about Lucky and all the precious critters at TBAR by visiting the website. www.t-bar.org. Name: Lab Puppy Black – ADOPTED Breed: Labrador Retriever / Border Collie / Mixed
Gender: Female
Age: Baby
Description:ADOPTED – Thank you! Their mother is a lab mix, very tall, lean, black with a white chest. She probably weighs around 50lbs. We aren’t sure who daddy is, but there is definitely some Border Collie in there, and who knows what else! Our best guess is that the yellow boy and black girl will end up around 30-40lbs, and the brown/white boy around 50lbs. This is a guess, and could change now that we can see their growth rates and now that they are getting proper nutrition.
The puppies have received their first round of vaccinations, are de-flea’d, wormed and started on heartworm preventative. Happy & Healthy and ready for adoption! Northwest Pet Hospital is fostering these puppies for True Blue Animal Rescue. Go to their Facebook page and like them to see these puppies full photo album: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.298503633521153.68163.140782249293293&type=1

Name: Chester Breed: Labrador Retriever / Border Collie / Mixed (short coat)
Gender: Male
Age: Young
Description: Chester’s Story from the TBAR memer who rescued him: I was on my way home from the vet in Bryan and on 159 and Hwy 6, I had seen a little dog this morning that was absolutely skin and bones. I tried to catch this morning and give food, but ran from me. This afternoon was there again, so I went up the road to Moore Feed and bought dog food to put out for it. By the time, I got back, it had been hit by a car. He was running around trying to find food. It was awful. I went past the dog and then backed up and went to it and it was still alive. I couldn’t let it stay there dying. At any rate, I got it off of Hwy 6 and down in the ditch. Another girl stopped to help me and we got it on a tarp that I had in the car.
I took to Kingdom Animal Hospital. No serious injuries but banged up really bad, and nothing but an absolute bag of bones from starvation. Said he had nothing in his stomach in the way of food but bones he had been eating. The dog is short-haired, black, with white paws and a white tip on his tail. Said probably cross with Border Collie and Lab, about 1 year old. Is a male. He is a small dog, probably won’t weigh more than 40 pounds when fat. You got any kind souls out there that would give him a chance?

Name: Asia – ADOPTED Breed: Yellow Labrador Retriever / Labrador Retriever (short coat)
Gender: Female
Age: Adult
Description:ADOPTED – Thank You!!Asia is a 4 yr. old female , yellow Lab who is full of fun and willingness to go what you like to do – in fact she is at the perfect age for Labs, the trainers tell us. Plenty of puppy fun lovingness left, but grown up enough to focus. Asia is house trained (and has not chewed a single thing or gotten in the garbage at her foster home), current on all her shots, worm meds, etc. and spayed. Though she is always upbeat and loving with people and other dogs, Asia has had some hard ships in her life. She began as an abandoned youngster, picked up by Animal Control and spent plenty of time in a small concrete kennel run. After awhile, some kind folks fell in love with her, adopted her and took her home where she felt love and comfort. Unfortunately her new family were older people and began having problems of their own, making it hard to care for a big energetic dog. To safe Asia from being returned to the pound, a good neighbor took her in and called TBAR to ask for help finding this lovely dog a home. Asia had some separation anxiety, but her recent foster home reports she is very relaxed and obedient and can wile away an afternoon sleeping at her foster mom’s feet, or hanging out in the back yard with this family’s dog. She needs a home where folks will understand that Asia has given her love instantly to each person who has fostered her and doesn’t understand why she keeps being whisked off from people and places she’s thinking are her own. She will need a week or so to settle in and a family who will give her a slow, steady welcome (i.e. take her on a walk, play in the yard with her. ) Because she’s spent alot of her life in small enclosures the vet would like to see her work her way into big exercise – so playing in the yard, walking on a leash chasing a few balls , all fine – take her running beside your bike on a 2 mile ride ? Not yet – but she’ll get there. Asia will need a well fenced yard. That’s not to say that if you want her for a companion and spend your day working in your shop or store, Asia wouldn’t be happy to hang out all day and greet your customers. This is a special girl, her gentleness and loyalty are humbling She needs a home and family who understand this about Labs and plan to make her part of the family. To meet Asia and learn about TBAR’s adoption program go to: www.t-bar.org , send an email to: [email protected], or call 936/878-2349.
Update: Jan 2012: Asia is a nice girl in the house. Doesn’t chew, get in the garbage, just sits quietly by your side. That’s all she really wants, just to hang out with someone.
