ABLE Kids Camp: Alton Field Trip May 2015

Third and Fourth Grade students from Alton Elementary School in Brenham, TX who read a story and wrote a summary about the book over Christmas break earned the opportunity to go to TBAR Ranch! This year 28 4th grade students and 18 3rd grade students got to come out and enjoy this fun filled educational opportunity. The event includes reading age appropriate rescue stories, riding horses and going on a hay ride. Hands on interactions like these build self esteem, teach about animal care and help our children become better pet owners and future advocates for animals. When you add in the book component, we’re building their reading skills too! As an Elementary School teacher this adds even more to the intrinsic value of this event.

These pictures are of the fourth grade students that came out on May 8th this year. We have the 3rd grade readers rescheduled to come out if the rain holds!
Nothing warms our hearts more than seeing children connect with and enjoy our rescue animals. Thank you to all the volunteers that help make this event possible!

Throwback Thursday: Kado (adoptable)

Some dogs get adopted right away but some don’t manage to find their forever home right away. Kado is one of those. We are a no kill so he’s not in danger of being put to sleep but he is in danger of never being someone’s special boy and knowing the love of a family all his own. Success Story: Apollo

We were lucky to pull this sweet baby out of a kill shelter as a baby but it took him a few months for him to find his furever family. He was doing well in his foster family but when Bill, Brandee and Will came out to meet some of the dogs at True Blue Animal Rescue he connected with them immediately. His normally shy personality was gone as he leaped into Bill’s lap and sat next to Will for attention! This IS a match made in heaven and lucky for me, I get to keep up with him and his new family. Another GREAT family adopts from True Blue Animal Rescue! Thank you!

Pet of the Week: Rock

Rock 05-25-15Why not add another beautiful boy to your family? This one is just for you! Rock is an American Staffordshire Terrier, Adult male, and large. He is up-to-date with routine shots and has been neutered. Rock is a wonderful dog who is happy and fun loving. He walks on a leash and loves to run and play too.

T-BAR is a no-kill rescue. Not only do we like having our animals adopted out, we also are in dire need of foster homes. That way we can help more animals out there, who are in perilous times alone on the streets. Please save a life by adopting a pet, instead of buying a pet and please have all your pets spayed and neutered. It is the right thing to do. Roman Update: May 2015

True-Blue-Animal-Rescue-Roman-May-2015Has anyone been wondering how Roman is doing? Here he is May 17, 2015, almost four months after coming into True Blue Animal Rescue. He’s gotten lots of love and attention from TBAR volunteers Alissa Cannon and Amy Hemsell. He’s had the pleasure of meeting children who come out on camp days too! The “oohs” and “ahhs” when this big boy is walked out to meet them was priceless. He gives us the chance to teach kids about rescue, proper feeding and dental care for senior horses and having the farrier out to trim up his hooves so they don’t crack and hurt. Coming from a giant like this Percheron boy, this makes a big impact with the kids. He is a senior, but he’s still got a lot to give in his new roll as a TBAR horse ambassador.

If you look at his pictures you will see that he has gained a lot of weight since coming to us at the end of January. A great big thank you for Triple Crown Feed for donating their high quality senior complete feed to help him through his rehab. As you might imagine, a big horse like this can eat a lot and even more when trying to get him to gain weight. He’s still got some more weight to gain but the improvements in this short amount of time is amazing! As you can see his coat is shedding out from the reddish color to the slick, shiny black that it was meant to be. When getting the right nutrition in Triple Crown Feed they get everything they need to be slick and shiny! All Roman has to do now is eat, swat flies and enjoy life.

Happy Tails: Teddy and Ana

True-Blue-Animal-Rescue-Happy-Tails-AnnaToday’s “Happy Tails” is both Ana and Teddy! They were both in foster homes that fell in love with them and decided to adopt!! Hooray for Teddy and Ana! They will be staying right where they are forever! We LOVE foster failures 😉

Happy Tails: Savannah

Hi All,

Below are pictures of our puppy Savannah (she was originally named Delilah), we got her from TBar in February 2010.  We first saw her at one of your adoption events at Petsmart in College Station.  

The first picture is Savannah with my husband Mike at Teresa’s place where we went to see her a second time before officially adopting.  In two of the pictures she is with her brother we got from animal control in 2012.

They are both wild and crazy and so much fun but Savannah is also the sweetest little girl you will meet.  I call her my little girl, she is 85lbs, she’s been such a sweetheart and blessing to our family.

Thank you for all you do!!  I couldn’t image our lives without Savannah 🙂

Success Story: Mocha / Reese

Mocha was adopted by a couple that came all the way from Austin to adopt her. They changed her name to Reece, which is very fitting! Just look at cute little Reece in her new home! Lucky puppy and lucky family!

Congrats on your new forever family Reece! And thank you to her new owners for opening their hearts and homes to adopt a new family member!
