Recap: Chili Cookoff 2015

True Blue Animal Rescue, with the help of the Independence Harley Davidson dealership in College Station, hosted the Iron Horses Chili Cook off on January 24, 2015, to help raise money for their mission of saving hooves, paws and claws. After three days of solid rain the sky finally decided to cut the Brazos Valley a break and the event went off to be a hit.

TBAR volunteers had to quickly regroup once the field we normally use for the cook off was found to be flooded and too muddy. With some fast thinking from Heather Beran the event started on-time with TBAR setting up the silent auction, raffle table, sales area and the dogs that were up for adoption. New things added this year were the kissing booth featuring TBARS’ favorite pup, Stumpy (sometimes called Moose) with our latest volunteer, Kalvin Doyle. We also had wonderful face painting done by volunteer Ellen Spahni! While the cook off was underway TV station KBTX came out and spoke to TBAR president and founder, Melanie Deaeth.

Thanks to many donations the sales table was also a hit selling a number of dog beds, collars and cute dog and cat outfits. While the event helps raise money, it is also a great time to meet potential new volunteers, new fosters or just get the message out about what the TBAR mission is all about.

Not only that but people could eat chili or buy the BBQ sandwiches that TBAR was also selling to raise funds for animals in need. Wonderful live music was provided by the band Leannasaurus Rex, that is a TBAR favorite to have playing. Thanks to all the TBAR volunteers, new and old, this year’s chili cook off was a smashing success. We want to thank all of the people that help us make this happen and thank those who showed up to help support our cause by opening your wallets and hearts.

Everyone’s hard work and time will go a long way for many animals in our care. We hope to see you all again next year.

Update #2: Moonshine

TrueBlueAnimalRescueMoonshineUpdate2Update on Moonshine! This is the horse who was untouchable when he came to us. Now after training at Tbar and a month with Juan Vendrell of TC Ranch Ventures he’s in a new home and will be adopted soon! His new Mom got him a saddle and he’s doing great with that! Hooray for Moonshine!

Happy New Year!

TrueBlueAnimalRescueChristmas2014Happy New Year from the Hodde Family and True Blue Animal Rescue!

The Hodde’s pets are all rescues. They shared their super cute Texas Christmas picture so we could see how well Buddy (aka, Butch), the tan dog on the left, is doing. Buddy was adopted from True Blue Animal Rescue several years ago, and as you can see, he’s happy and loved in his new family.

You can help us make 2015 a great year by donating, fostering, or adopting!

Throwback Success: Eddie!

TrueBlueAnimalRescueSuccessStoryEddie TrueBlueAnimalRescueSuccessStoryEddie2

Eddie is our Merry Christmas Throwback Thursday. Eddie came to True Blue Animal Rescue when he was one week old. He was bottle fed and cared for in a foster home and then adopted into a wonderful family. Here he is with his family for Christmas. He was bigger than what they were looking for but they gave him a chance anyway and he turned out to be perfect for their family.

With the help of Eddie and his new family we wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Success Story: Tina!

TrueBlueAnimalRescueTina TrueBlueAnimalRescueTina2

This weeks Success Story is Tina. and it’s a Christmas Blessing.

Tina’s New Mom sent this message:

Tina had a long talk with Santa this year.

She said she really wanted to stay in her foster home forever.

Santa couldn’t resist those eyes... and the snuggles every evening by the fire. So Santa said, “Come stay with me”.

Along with her BFF Jenny, who was also adopted from TBAR, her job will be to help Santa relax after a hard day’s work in the toy shop.

The second picture is Tina with her entire family. Her Dad plays Santa every weekend of Dec each year. Her Mom takes the pictures and all proceeds from their efforts go to True Blue Animal Rescue so more animals can be saved the following year. Her family is the Taylor Family and they are a blessing to rescue animals and especially to True Blue Animal Rescue!

Animal Adoption: Honey

Success Story Wednesday True Blue Animal Rescue Dog Adopted Honey

Success Story Wednesday!

Here is Honey, who has found her forever home! You can see her here showering her new mom with kisses. Any time her new mom left the car she would cry for her – she knew they belonged together!

Honey was a female dachshund mix who was rescued from a shelter by one of our TBAR volunteers. This sweet young puppy quickly earned the heart of her foster Mom’s own mother, who decided to adopt Honey! It is always a great treat when a rescued dog gets to stay in the family.

Hooray for Honey! Thanks Shellie for rescuing her!

TBAR Success Story: Moose

TBAR Adopted Dog Moose

Our Throwback Success Story is Moose, affectionally known as a foster failure.

His foster mother had to bottle feed him when his mom was hit by a car. After many long nights feeding baby Moose, his foster mother and family fell in love with him and he fit right in with the other dogs in his new family.

Congrats to Moose and his new family!

TBAR Success Stories December 3, 2014

True Blue Animal Rescue Success Stories December 3, 2014

Our most recent success stories include our three newest Maltese Mix dogs as well as Smokey Lonesome, who had been in TBAR waiting for his forever home for a while!

Smokey Lonesome

Smokey Lonesome wandered up to a family’s home in Chappell Hill and decided that he would just live with the kind people who would feed him. But this family was unable to give him a home due to their extensive traveling and didn’t want to leave him homeless. They could tell from his behavior that he had very likely been abused so they contacted TBAR who ended up having a foster home step up for Smokey.

Smokey was approximately born on November 1, 2012 and is an Australian Shepherd. When he was with the family who found him, he was very fearful of new people and things, especially the leash. He was being fostered by a dog trainer who has been able to work with Smokey on his fears to help him find a perfect forever home. He adjusted well and loved his foster parents very much. Smokey Lonesome was adopted by the Ratchfords who also adopted Ciara and the two are getting along wonderfully!

Maltese Mix

True Blue Animal Rescue Maltese Mixes November 2014

Here’s the before picture of the little maltese dogs. They were abandoned and left in a house with no food and water. they lived in filth and their hair was overgrown.

Thanks to the San Felipe PD for responding to an animal cruelty call and taking possession of 5 dogs who needed immediate help! Thanks to TBAR volunteer Casie Cooper for organizing volunteers to help get these dogs cleaned up, and finding them homes very quickly! What a difference a day and a bunch of folks can make in the life of an animal.

If you are interested in adopting a TBAR dog, please view our adoptable dogs page, and download the forms here. You can also email [email protected] or call (936) 878-2349 and leave a voicemail. TBAR is volunteer run and will respond to your message at the volunteer’s earliest convenience.
