Ginger Update: Stitches out
We’re happy to let you know that Ginger, the horse with all the belly cuts, got her stitches out and is doing well. She does have open wounds that need to be cleaned and monitored but she should heal completely in a few more weeks. TBAR Rescue Horse: Guy
Meet TBARs newest horse, Guy. He was found homeless in Washington Co and when nobody claimed him the options were to either send him to auction which would most likely end with slaughter or try and find him a home. His time is running out but we haven’t given up yet. Help us keep this one out of the kill pens! Rescue Dog: Stella
One of our wonderful foster homes went to Brenham Animal Services to volunteer and bring some donations. While she was there she met this beautiful dog named Stella. Poor Stella had some tumors on her side and belly, she was heart worm positive and she’s not a young dog so her chances for adoption were non existent. Shelli took pictures and together we tried to network for a foster home. Shelli already has a house full of pets and knew it would be a challenge to take her home but when nobody offered to foster or adopt Stella she decided to go back and get her and do the rehabilitation so she’d be healthy and have a better chance of being adopted.
Here’s Stella now. She’s spayed, on heart worm treatment and her tumors have been removed. As soon as we get the results of the biopsies and she’s fully healed she’ll go up for adoption. Thank you for saving a life Shelli. This may not make a difference for all the dogs but for this one dog, it made ALL the difference. Save a life, foster or adopt.

UPDATE: Stella’s tumors were benign except one and Dr. Philips got all of that one out so she is cancer free and will go up for adoption soon!!
TBAR Rescue Horse: Ginger
Ginger was caught up in a fence wire that cut her belly open in several places. Thanks to some fast acting rescuers who got her to the vet to be stitched up she’s healing and doing better. She’ll be at the vet for another week to be monitored while her injuries begin to heal before she takes another trailer ride. The owner could not keep her so True Blue Animal Rescue committed to rehabilitating her but we need your help to pay the vet bills. Go to our website and make a donation to help Ginger. 8th Abandoned Horse in 2 Months
Meet the 8th abandoned horse that has come into True Blue Animal Rescue in the last two months. We’re thankful that law enforcement calls us instead of sending them to auction but this many horses in a short amount of time is a challenge. RIP Captain
Original Post (Jan 14): Captain just came into TBAR last week and after a week at the vet and a teeth floating he went to his foster home. As you can see he’s in good spirits and eating his alfalfa cube mash but he went down this morning and hasn’t been able to get up. He wants to get up but doesn’t have the strength because he’s so malnourished. Please pray for Captain to get up. We’ve done it before so let’s do it again! The power of prayer and healing is powerful!
Update January 15: We got him up, got him loaded and on the way to the vet. Yes, it’s sad that he was starved and abandoned but thanks to a lot of amazing rescuers this horse is up and on the way to the vet. There are a lot of great people in the world!
Update January 17: Melanie and Lauren spent all day with Captain today! We started feeding him a One n Only mash and going into the evening he started gaining some strength. He was up standing and walking around. He even gave Melanie a One n Only bath. He is not out of the woods yet so prayers are still needed!

This syndrome can be fatal but we all know that the power of prayer and the action of rescuers can beat the odds. If you can visit Captain at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital at 6999 Hwy 6 in Navasota, please do. Help feed him some One and Only mash (we left a bag of it there for him) and help him get up on his chest to eat (or find someone to help) They are busy there and might not be able to give him all the individual attention he needs so it’s up to us to make sure he’s getting food regularly and being pushed up on his chest and lifted to stand. Updated January 17: Just got here to sit with Captain. He is resting. Vet said he does this after he eats to rest and digest, and then perks up. Amy and I will sit with him for a few hours. He is not out of the woods yet, but his fighting heart is still beating!! PRAY!!!!!! -Teresa
Updated January 17: Captain lost his battle the morning of January 18, 2017. He died knowing how much we all loved and cared about him. Thank you all for going to see him and for praying for him. The only thing wrong with him was that he had been starved. I pray that together we can end needless suffering like this for all animals and humans too. — at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital.
Stray Horses Need Foster Homes
CALLING ALL HORSE FOSTER HOMES! We have more stray horses that need our help. Here are two of them that will be ready soon but there are more. We asked people not to let them starve to death and not to send them to slaughter so now they’re being turned out or turned over to us. This is our chance to make a difference and start the wave of change. Let’s change the cycle of sending horses to slaughter or leaving them to die. 19 Puppies Rescued, homes needed!
Puppies, puppies and MORE puppies. This is 6 of 19 puppies that were dumped on the side of the road in a cardboard box. A kind hearted couple took them home and is feeding them but can’t manage for long. 8 are cleaned up and in foster homes but there are still 11 that need help. If you can temporarily foster a few puppies email [email protected] and let us know. Once they’re cleaned up and vaccinated we’ll find them homes. If they don’t find homes in Texas we’ll find them placements out of state. They’re adorable so they’ll go fast!
